Pawtucket Red Sox (54-55)

PawSox fall under .500 with an 11 inning loss, 6-5

Jalen Beeks battled through six frames, yielding five runs on ten hits – including a Clint Robinson clout – and a pair of walks; striking out six. Rehabbing Joe Kelly pitched a spotless  1-2-3 seventh on eight pitches; whiffing one. Chandler Shepherd surrendered a hit and struck out one in two innings of scoreless relief. Noe Ramirez relinquished the winning run, giving up three hits and striking out four in two frames.

Rusney Castillo clubbed a single and a fifth inning three-run roundtripper while drawing a walk in five appearances. Bryce Brentz blasted a pair of solo bombs in five at-bats. Brian Bogusevic blooped a pair of singles in four trips. Heiker Meneses and Jake Romanski each ripped a single in four jaunts. Tzu Wei Lin laced a single and stole a base in five treks. Sam Travis, Matt Dominguez, and Steve Selsky suffered five flops; Selsky whiffing thrice.

Portland Sea Dogs (50-57)

Dahlstrand allows two in the 11th, Portland downed 7-5

Kevin McAvoy lasted only 3 ⅔ innings in his return to the Sea Dog rotation, yielding five runs on six hits, two walks, and two hit by pitches. Trevor Kelley walked one and hit one in an otherwise perfect 3 ⅓ innings of relief. Ty Buttrey followed with three scoreless frames, granting a two hits and whiffing one. However, Jacob Dahlstrand was rocked for two runs on two hits and two walks in the 11th; Dahlstrand struck out one.

Jeremy Barfield bopped a single and a double while drawing a base on balls in six sessions. Josh Ockimey obtained a double and two free passes in five jaunts before being pinch run for by Henry Urrutia in the 10th. Cole Sturgeon stung a single and walked twice in six appearances. Mike Olt, Josh Tobias, and Jordan Procyshen each procured a single and a walk in five trips. Danny Mars muscled a double in five at-bats. Michael Chavis contributed a single in six meetings. Chad De La Guerra was the only man without a hit, walking once in six excursions.

Salem Red Sox (22-18/62-47)

O’Linger lit up, Salem defeated 9-2

Durin O’Linger let in seven runs on ten hits – including roundtrippers from Matt Rose and Brandon Dulin in a five-run fifth – and a walk over 4 ⅔ frames; striking out two and uncorking a wild pitch. Pat Goetze gave up two runs on three hits and two walks in 2 ⅓ relief frames. Marc Brakeman pitched a scoreless eighth, allowing a walk and a hit by pitch while whiffing a pair.

Jhon Nunez notched a single and a double in three at-bats. Bryan Hudson dropped a single and a sacrifice bunt in three appearances; he was also caught stealing. Nick Lovullo laced a single and was picked off in three excursions. Tate Matheny muscled a single in two trips before giving way to Victor Acosta who was hitless in two attempts. Austin Rei reached on a walk in four ups. Jordan Betts delivered a sacrifice fly in four jaunts. Chris Madera was unable to reach in three treks before giving way to Mike Meyers, who lined out to short. Jeremy Rivera and Jose Sermo each struck out thrice in four futile forays.

Greenville Drive (18-20/59-48)

Dalbec goes downtown, Drive squeak by the Tourists 1-0

Jason Groome had his finest professional outing with six scoreless innings, giving up just a single and a walk while whiffing an octet. Robby Sexton surrendered three hits and a walk in 2 ⅓ frames; striking out three. Juan Florentino procured the save by getting the final two outs in his full-season debut; Florentino gave up a double and struck out one.

Bobby Dalbec reached three times in four tries, with a single, a walk, and a fifth inning bomb that accounted for the only run of the game. Tyler Hill and Tucker Tubbs each thumped a hit and drew a walk in four treks; Tubbs with a double. Brett Netzer and Roldani Baldwin each blasted a hit in four at-bats; Baldwin with a double. Steven Reveles reached base twice on walks in three appearances. Granger Studdard was served a base on balls in three trips. Lorenzo Cedrola and Santiago Espinal had four forgettable forays.

Lowell Spinners (18-22)

Severe thunderstorms in Lowell prevented the Spinners and Renegades from performing baseball magic on Wednesday. They will attempt to play two today.

GCL Red Sox (17-15)

Rusconi rips three hits in 5-2 victory

Edilson Batista persevered through five innings to pick up his first win of the season, allowing an unearned run on four hits, two walks, and a hit by pitch. Eduard Bazardo yielded a run on four hits and three walks – one intentional – in the final four frames; whiffing seven and uncorking a pitch to the backstop.

Jagger Rusconi rocked a pair of singles and a double in four at-bats. Ricardo Cubillan contributed two singles in four trips. Everlouis Lozada launched a single and a double in five excursions. Jerry Downs delivered a double and a walk in four jaunts. Tyler Dearden drove a single and was plunked by a pitch in four appearances. Juan Carlos Abreu singled once in four junkets. Cole Brannen blooped a double in five treks. Jecorrah Arnold and Alberto Schmidt each suffered four fruitless forays.

DSL Red Sox (33-16)

Gomez and Franco whiff nine Braves in game one, Sox prevail 5-0

Rafael Gomez scattered three singles and struck out six in six scoreless innings. Alberto Franco walked one and struck out the side in the seventh.

Willis Figueroa found the base paths in all four plate appearances with two singles, a double, and a walk; he also swiped a bag. Keibert Petit punched a pair of singles and earned a free pass in four treks. Freiberg Marin managed a single and a plunking in four matchups. Angel Gonzalez golfed a single and worked a base on balls in four attempts. Marcos Martinez and Jose Mejias each muscled a single in four excursions. Rafael Rincones reached thrice on two walks and a hit by pitch, striking out in his only official at-bat. Luis Hernandez was unable to put a ball in play in his four jaunts, walking once and whiffing three times. Ivan Houellemont had his five-game hit streak stopped with four fizzled forays.

Sox score twice in the third and fourth, sweep Braves 5-3 in game two

Alexander Montero tossed the first three scoreless innings, giving up a single and a hit by pitch; striking out one. Jeison Pena picked up the win despite allowing three runs on three hits and a walk in his two frames. Luis Rivero retired the final six Braves in order, striking out one.

Ivan Jimenez and Lewis Baez bopped a pair of hits in three at-bats; Baez blasting a triple. Reinaldo Ugueto and Ivan Houellemont each hit a single and were hit by a pitch in three ups; Ugueto stole two bases, Houellemont one. Luis Torres singled once in two tries. Rafael Rincones ripped a single in three trips. Jesus Chacon contributed a sacrifice fly amid two hitless jaunts. Ronaldo Pulgar and Fabian Andrade each had a trio of forlorned forays.
