Pawtucket Red Sox (54-58)

Pawsox can’t solve Scranton, suffer seventh straight defeat, 3-1

Brian Johnson tossed 60 pitches over five frames, allowing one run on a Billy McKinney moonshot. Johnson yielded an additional three hits and a walk while whiffing one. Chandler Shepherd surrendered a pair of runs on four hits and a walk over 1 ⅔ innings; striking out one. Kyle Martin picked up the final four outs in order, also whiffing one.

Sam Travis thumped a single and drew a walk in four appearances. Heiker Meneses muscled a single and was caught stealing in three at-bats. Bryce Brentz and Tzu-Wei Lin each lined a single in four trips. Matt Dominguez delivered a walk in three chances. Dan Butler, Deven Marrero, and Brian Bogusevic each failed to reach in three attempts. Rusney Castillo suffered four failed forays.

Portland Sea Dogs (52-58)

Seven-run fifth propels Bowie past Portland, 13-7

Carson Smith faced four batters in his first rehab appearance, getting one out and surrendering two runs on three walks. Trey Ball was battered for six runs on 12 hits and two walks over four frames. He struck out three and unleashed a wild pitch. Jacob Dahlstrand gave up a DJ Stewart grand slam, allowing two walks and four hits over 1 ⅔ innings. Trevor Kelley was tagged for one run on three hits in two innings; striking out one.

Danny Mars muscled three singles and his sixth moonshot of the season in five at-bats. Danny Bethea belted a single and earned two bases on balls in four appearances. Jeremy Barfield, Josh Ockimey, and Cole Sturgeon each stung a hit and drew a walk in four jaunts; Ockimey and Sturgeon slamming quadrangulars. Michael Chavis chipped in with a single and a sacrifice fly in four trips. Chad De La Guerra golfed a double in five attempts. Mike Olt obtained a free pass amid three hitless matchups. Deiner Lopez was unable to reach in four frustrating forays.

The game was ended in the top of the ninth inning due to rain.

Salem Red Sox (23-20/63-49)

Pelicans drill three dingers, defeat Salem 4-3

Matt Kent yielded four runs on five singles, a walk, and three homers – by Zack Short, Trent Giambrone, and Jesse Hodges – over seven innings; striking out seven. Matthew Gorst gave up a single and struck out one in the eighth.

Mike Meyers managed a single, a double, and a walk in four matchups. Austin Rei and Jose Sermo each served up a hit and a walk in four appearances; Rei with a double. Tate Matheny and Jordan Betts each blasted a hit in four at-bats; Betts belting a double, Matheny adding a stolen base and a caught stealing. Conrad Gregor got a free pass in four trips. Jeremy Rivera dropped a sacrifice bunt in four jaunts. Jhon Nunez notched a sacrifice fly and whiffed three times. Tyler Spoon put four balls in play, each for an out.

Greenville Drive (20-21/61-49)

Drive walk nine RiverDogs, lose 12-4

Bryan Mata yielded four runs on four hits, two walks, and two plunkings in three innings; striking out one and uncorking two wild pitches. Jared Oliver lasted only one inning and two batters, surrendering six runs on five walks and two hits while throwing a pitch to the backstop. Juan Florentino allowed two runs on two hits and a walk in his inning; whiffing a trio. Infielder Tucker Tubbs made his third appearance on the mound this season, and provided another scoreless inning with a walk and a K. Tubbs has pitched six times in his professional career and has yet to allow a run.

Isaias Lucena laced three singles and earned a free pass in five appearances. Lorenzo Cedrola contributed two singles and a walk in six sessions. Tyler Hill hit a single, earned two free passes, and stole a base in five trips. Jerry Downs delivered a double and two walks in five jaunts. Bobby Dalbec drove a single in three at-bats before being replaced by Carlos Tovar who walked once in two tries. Granger Studdard poked a single and was stung by a pitch in five ventures. Mitch Gunsolus got on twice via walk in five matchups. Santiago Espinal dropped a sacrifice bunt and earned a free pass in five treks. Brett Netzer notched five fruitless forays.

The Drive left 15 men on base, going 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Lowell Spinners (20-24)

Spinners best Brooklyn 3-2 with run in the sixth

Enmanuel De Jesus surrendered two runs on seven hits, two walks, a wild pitch, and a balk over 5 ⅔ frames; whiffing a quartet. Lukas Young yielded a hit and a walk in the final 3 ⅓ scoreless innings, striking out four.

Zach Sterry and Juan Barriento each blasted two hits in four at-bats; Barriento with a double. Frankie Rios reached four times with a single and three walks in five trips; he also swiped a bag. Yomar Valentin drove a double and earned a free pass in four ventures. Garrett Benge bopped a single and took a base on balls in five ups. Nicholos Hamilton walked twice in four treks. Michael Osinski obtained a free pass in five appearances. Charlie Madden dropped a sacrifice bunt in four matchups. Steven Reveles was unable to reach in four fizzled forays.

GCL Red Sox (17-18)

Sox drop under .500 after a 12-4 pasting

Oddanier Mosqueda allowed five runs in one inning of work, giving up four hits and three walks while whiffing a pair. Ritzi Mendoza relinquished five runs on four hits, three walks, and a hit by pitch over three frames; striking out two and uncorking a wild pitch. Francisco Lopez-Soto surrendered two runs – one earned – on two hits – including a Jean Carlos Arias jack – while striking out a trio in two frames. Tanner Raiburn put out the fire, walking one and striking out four in two scoreless innings.

David Durden, Everlouis Lozada, and Pedro Castellanos each contributed two singles in four at-bats. Kervin Suarez struck a single in two treks before being replaced by Juan Carlos Abreu who walked once in two jaunts. Andre Colon contributed a single and a walk in four appearances. Cole Brannen bopped a hit in five attempts. Eduard Conde was unsuccessful in four excursions. Jagger Rusconi had four hitless junkets before being relieved by Jecorrah Arnold, who popped out in the ninth. Blake Swihart suffered five rehab flops.

DSL Red Sox (33-19)

Sox held to four singles in 6-0 defeat

Luis Colmenares coughed up four runs – three earned – on eight hits, two walks, and a hit by pitch over four frames; whiffing two and uncorking a pitch to the backstop. Manuel Ramirez relinquished two runs on two hits, two walks, a wild pitch, and a hit by pitch while recording only two outs. Jeison Pena walked one and whiffed two in 3 ⅓ scoreless innings of relief. Alberto Franco struck out two and gave up a hit in one scoreless frame.

Ivan Houellemont had a busy day, with a single, a walk, and two plunkings in four trips. Willis Figueroa found first twice with two singles in four at-bats. Jesus Chacon singled once in three jaunts. Luis Torres picked up a free pass in three trips. Lewis Baez had a trio of unsuccessful battles. Jonathan Diaz, Rafael Rincones, Keibert Petit, and Freiberg Marin each had four forlorned forays.
