Hildemaro Requena relinquished four hits and three walks over 7 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out four. Joan Martinez picked up the final two outs in the eighth and the first two outs in the ninth, leaving the bases loaded via three base on balls. Martinez whiffed one and uncorked two wild pitches. Daniel Gonzalez threw two pitches, inducing Eduardo Navas to fly out to end the game and Charleston’s season.
Brett Netzer and Bobby Dalbec each notched two hits in four at-bats; Dalbec with a three-run dinger in the eighth to extend the lead to five. Isaias Lucena lined a single and drew a walk in three appearances. Pedro Castellanos clubbed a single in three trips before being replaced by Granger Studdard who struck out in his only attempt. Santiago Espinal and Roldani Baldwin each blooped a single in four excursions. Ryan Scott walked once in four sessions. Jagger Rusconi dropped a sacrifice bunt amid two hitless jaunts. Tucker Tubbs had a trio of frustrating forays.
The Drive will travel to Kannapolis, North Carolina on Monday to begin the South Atlantic League best of five finals on Monday.
