Drive score two in the top of the 13th, hold on for an 8-7 victory in game one

Darwinzon Hernandez was hammered for four runs on five hits and two walks over 3 2/3 frames; striking out six. Daniel Gonzalez gave up one run on two hits in his 3 1/3 innings of relief; whiffing four. Juan Florentino yielded one run on two hits and two walks – one intentional – over two frames. Algenis Martinez shut down the Intimidators over three scoreless frames, allowing one hit while whiffing a trio. Joan Martinez surrendered one run in the bottom of the 13th on a hit by pitch, a single, and two wild pitches; Martinez struck out a pair.

Santiago Espinal led the Drive with four singles and a double in seven excursions; scoring three times. Brett Netzer also notched five times on base in seven appearances; with a single, a double, a hit by pitch, and two bases on balls. Yoan Aybar yanked two singles, dropped a sacrifice bunt, and drew a walk in seven attempts. Roldani Baldwin and Bobby Dalbec each delivered two hits in seven at-bats; Dalbec with a double. Mitch Gunsolus singled in the pivotal 13th inning after pinch-running for Pedro Castellanos in the 11th; Castellanos singled once in six trips. Tucker Tubbs thumped a double and took a free pass in seven treks. Tyler Hill singled once in seven forays. Ryan Scott took a walk and stole a base in four sessions before being pinch-hit for by Jerry Downs in the eighth; Downs was given an intentional walk and was promptly replaced by pinch-runner Jagger Rusconi, who stayed in the game for the final five innings – going 0-for-1 with a sacrifice bunt.
