Travis Lakins surrendered both Down East runs, allowing five hits – including a Josh Morgan jack – and a pair of walks in his five innings of work, striking out four. Adam Lau pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh innings, giving up two hits while whiffing a quartet. Yankory Pimentel threw the final two frames, allowing a hit and a pair of walks while striking out a trio.
Jose Sermo led the hit parade with four in five at-bats, including a double. Tate Matheny managed a single, a tater, and a walk in five plate appearances, scoring three times. Josh Ockimey obtained a single, a double, and a free pass in his five trips to the dish. Chad De La Guerra and Jhon Nunez each went 2-for-5; De La Guerra delivering a double and two RBI. Jordan Betts and Deiner Lopez each laced a single and had four other frustrating forays. Derek Miller was plunked, but otherwise went hitless in four at-bats. Chris Madera was the only Salemite who failed to reach base, going 0-for-5.
Greenville Drive (7-4)
Shaun Anderson picked up his second victory of the season with a five-inning effort, allowing a run on three hits, three walks, and a hit by pitch; whiffing a sextet and throwing one to the backstop. Anderson (along with his catcher Roldani Baldwin) allowed four Tourist steals while only cutting down one attempt. Dakota Smith pitched two scoreless frames, surrendering two hits while striking out two. Smith and Baldwin knocked down one stolen base attempt. Stephen Nogosek notched the save by going the final two innings, giving up a run on three hits while earning a pair of Ks.
Nick Lovullo was the hitter of the day, with a pair of singles and a double in four at-bats. Lorenzo Cedrola laced a pair of singles and stole a base in four trips. Carlos Tovar and Bobby Dalbec each dropped two singles in five forays; Tovar was caught stealing. Roldani Baldwin bopped a double and drew a free pass in four plate appearances. Ryan Scott scorched a single and had three hitless attempts. Santiago Espinal doubled once in his five at-bats. Tucker Tubbs and Yoan Aybar each went hitless in four forays, Tubbs earning the sombrero with his trio of whiffs.
