All-Star Participants

In the AAA All-Star game in Tacoma, Washington, the three PawSox could not do quite enough to bring the International League to victory, with the home PCL winning 6-4.

Rusney Castillo played the entire game for the IL in centerfield, contributing two singles and a stolen base in five at-bats. Bryce Brentz earned the start in left, walking once in three tries before being lifted for Andrew Stevenson in the seventh. Edgar Olmos picked up the shortest of appearances, getting Tomas Telis to fly out to end the bottom of the eighth.

In the Eastern League All-Star Game, the four Sea Dogs each contributed to the Eastern Division’s 7-1 victory over the West.

Danny Mars started in left and then moved to center, playing the entire contest while mashing three hits, including a double, in four at-bats. Rafael Devers started at third, hitting a single in two trips before being lifted for Mitch Walding in the top of the sixth. Teddy Stankiewicz tossed a 1-2-3 fifth inning, striking out Slade Heathcott. Williams Jerez yielded a single to Garabez Rosa and whiffed Aderlin Rodriguez – the champion of the Home Run hitting contest – in his seventh inning appearance.

Salem Red Sox (12-8/52-37)

Anderson and Brakeman stop the Nats in their tracks; Salem wins 6-0

Shaun Anderson slung seven strong frames, allowing four hits and a walk while whiffing six. Marc Brakeman tossed a pair of 1-2-3 innings, striking out a quartet.

Tate Matheny and Tyler Spoon each topped a pair of hits and drew a walk in four appearances; Matheny mashing a double. Jeremy Rivera roped two singles in five at-bats. Jose Sermo sliced a double, lifted a sacrifice fly, and earned a free pass in four trips. Chris Madera and Nick Lovullo each laced a single in three official at-bats; Lovullo taking a walk, Madera a pair of free passes. Josh Ockimey and Austin Rei each obtained a single in four attacks. Jordan Betts was the only player not to get a hit, taking a base on balls and lifting a sacrifice fly in four forays.

Greenville Drive (8-11/49-39)

Five Drive have multi-hit games as Greenville intimidates Kannapolis, 12-2

Jhonathan Diaz tossed five frames, allowing two runs on seven hits while whiffing a pair. Harrison Cooney walked a pair and hit a batter while striking out three and uncorking a wild pitch in his two innings of relief. Hildemaro Requena relinquished a hit and two bases on balls in the final two frames; whiffing one.

Granger Studdard led the hit parade with a pair of singles and a pair of doubles in five trips. Carlos Tovar thumped a double and two singles in five at-bats. Santiago Espinal, Tyler Hill, and Roldani Baldwin each bopped a pair of hits in five attacks; Baldwin blasting two doubles, Espinal hitting one two-bagger. Mitch Gunsolus garnered a single, a walk, and a hit by pitch in five forays. Bobby Dalbec drove a double in five excursions. Lorenzo Cedrola contributed a single in six sessions. Tucker Tubbs went hitless in two official at-bats, drawing two walks and being plunked by a pitch.

Lowell Spinners (10-11)

Duron gives up three in the first, Lowell can’t spin offensive magic in 7-2 defeat

Nick Duron yielded four runs on four hits and a walk in four frames; striking out one and unleashing a wild pitch. Ryan Oduber relinquished two runs on four hits – including a Jhonny Santos jack – and a walk; whiffing a quintet and throwing a pitch to the backstop. Mitchell Osnowitz allowed a run on two hits and a walk in the eighth, striking out one and throwing a pitch beyond the catcher.

Nicholos Hamilton hit a pair of doubles and stole a base in four trips. Frankie Rios rocketed his first professional homer in the ninth, also drawing a walk in his four appearances. Marino Campana contributed a single and a walk in four excursions. Michael Osinski had a single and two strikeouts in his three attacks. Brett Netzer and Juan Barriento each bopped a single in four at-bats. Yoan Aybar dropped a sacrifice bunt amid three hitless attempts. Samuel Miranda and Yomar Valentin each had a trio of fruitless forays.

GCL Red Sox (8-7)

Oddanier Mosqueda allowed a run on two hits, a walk, and a hit by pitch over four innings; striking out four and uncorking a wild pitch. Eduard Bazardo yielded five runs – two earned – on six hits and two walks; whiffing one in two frames. Francisco Lopez-Soto walked one and struck out one in the seventh.

Ramfis Berroa bopped two singles and stole a bag in three trips. Tyler Esplin, Alan Marrero, and Xavier LeGrant each laced a single in three at-bats. Kervin Suarez swatted a single in four attacks. Juan Carlos Abreu and Jecorrah Arnold were allowed to walk to first once in three appearances; Abreu adding a steal. Pedro Castellanos was plunked by a pitch in three excursions. Ricardo Cubillan contributed four futile forays.

DSL Red Sox (23-11)

Sox come back from a five run deficit, send the Astros home with an 8-7 defeat in a game ended in the eighth due to rain

Manuel Ramirez relinquished five runs on nine hits and a walk over four innings; striking out a quartet. Carlos Cortes allowed two runs on five walks and a Nerio Rodriguez roundtripper; whiffing two and uncorking two wild pitches. Antonio Police struck out the side in both of his innings, walking two and hitting one.

Luis Torres laced three singles in four at-bats. Reinaldo Ugueto reached base with two singles and a hit by pitch in five appearances; he was also caught stealing. Jesus Chacon contributed two singles in four trips. Alexander Martinez and Keibert Petit each procured a pair of singles in five tries. Ivan Houellemont had a perfect day at the plate with a single, a walk, a hit by pitch, and a sacrifice fly; however, he was caught trying to steal home. Rafael Rincones reached base with a single and a trio of free passes in five attempts. Angel Gonzalez got on base three times with a single, a walk, and a hit by pitch in five tries; he, too, was caught stealing. Marcos Martinez managed a single in five forays.
