Pawtucket Red Sox (24-27)

Beeks can’t hold three-run advantage, PawSox lose 5-4

Jalen Beeks went six innings in his AAA debut, surrendering four runs on six hits, three walks, and a hit by pitch; striking out a trio. Ty Buttrey pitched two frames, yielding a run on two hits and a wild pitch.

Dan Butler and Bryce Brentz each belted a pair of hits in four at-bats; Brentz with a two-run bomb in the first. Rusney Castillo and Ryan Court each roped two hits in five trips; Court with a double. Heiker Meneses, Brian Bogusevic and Allen Craig each contributed a hit in four appearances; Craig with a homer. Steve Selsky slugged a double in five forays. Jantzen Witte walked twice and had two hitless attempts.

Portland Sea Dogs (24-28)

Rainy weather postponed yet another Portland game. This one will be made up in August as part of a five game in three day series in Binghamton.

Salem Red Sox (34-23)

Pitching gives up five in the final two innings, Salem goes down to defeat in game one 5-3

Shaun Anderson tossed 94 pitches in his 6 ⅓ inning start, allowing three runs on six hits – including a Connor Marabell moonshot – and a walk; striking out three. Adam Lau surrendered two runs on a single and a Sam Haggerty homer before getting hit two outs.

Michael Chavis accounted for all three runs with a pair of bombs in three trips. Tate Matheny managed a single in three at-bats. Austin Rei reached on a walk and a hit by pitch in three appearances, also being caught stealing. Josh Ockimey obtained a free pass amid two hitless attempts. Jeremy Rivera was unsuccessful in two trips. Jose Sermo, Mike Meyers, Trenton Kemp, and Chad De La Guerra each had a trio of frustrating forays.

Brakeman can’t stop Lynchburg in eighth, Salem loses game two 3-2

Mike Shawaryn surrendered two runs on seven hits – including a Sicnarf Loopstok launch – and a walk; whiffing a sextet and uncorking a wild pitch. Gerson Bautista gave up two hits and a walk while picking up four outs; whiffing one and throwing one to the backstop. Marc Brakeman allowed a run on three hits in his 1 ⅔ innings.

Chad De La Guerra delivered two singles in four at-bats. Tate Matheny tapped a single and was tapped by a pitch in his four trips. Mike Meyers managed a single in three appearances; but was picked off of first and then caught stealing. Jose Sermo and Austin Rei each stroked a single as a pinch hitter; they replaced Jeremy Rivera and Jhon Nunez who each failed to reach in two appearances. Josh Ockimey obtained a free pass and had two hitless at-bats. Bryan Hudson and Jordan Betts each failed to reach base in three trips. Michael Chavis had a quartet of frustrating forays.

Greenville Drive (34-22)

Drive get knocked off kilter, lose 17-0

Logan Boyd surrendered seven runs on seven hits (two homers) and three walks in his four frames; whiffing five and uncorking a wild pitch. Hunter Smith yielded eight runs on nine hits (one bomb); striking out one and throwing a pitch beyond the catcher. Dakota Smith relinquished two runs on a hit, a hit by pitch, and four free passes; whiffing a pair. Hildemaro Requena walked one and struck out one while picking up the final four outs.

Roldani Baldwin belted hits in each of his four trips, including a double. Steven Reveles had the only other Greenville hit – a single – in his four forays. Santiago Espinal, Ryan Scott, Tucker Tubbs, and Mitch Gunsolus all too a walk in their four trips. Carlos Tovar was unable to reach in three appearances, striking out twice. Tyler Spoon and Tyler Hill each had four frustrating forays.

DSL Red Sox (0-1)

Rivero relinquishes winning run in the eighth, Sox lose 3-2 on Saturday

Alejandro Rodriguez tossed the first four frames, surrendering two runs on four hits – including a two-run roundtripper by Ismaldo Rodriguez – and a walk; whiffing one and uncorking a wild pitch. Eduard Bazardo threw three scoreless innings on two hits and a hit by pitch, striking out a quartet. Luis Rivero allowed one run on two hits while whiffing four.

Alexander Martinez managed a single and a double in four forays and was caught stealing. Keibert Petit knocked a single and was given an intentional walk in four trips. Rafael Rincones roped a double in four at-bats. Eduard Conde dropped a sacrifice bunt and drew a walk in four appearances. Fabian Andrade walked to first twice amid two hitless attempts. Luis Hernandez dropped a sacrifice bunt and had three hitless at-bats. Ivan Houellemont lifted a sacrifice fly in his four trips. Freiberg Marin had a trio of unsuccessful appearances. Jesus Chacon had four futile forays.
