Roenis Elias allowed three hits and two walks in six scoreless innings, striking out nine. Noe Ramirez pitched two perfect innings, whiffing three. Chandler Shepherd yielded the only run in his two innings of work, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out one.
Jose Vinicio singled once in three at-bats. Rusney Castillo and Chris Marrero each roped a hit in four at-bats; Marrero mashing a double. Chris Dominguez worked a walk and a stolen base in four trips to the dish. Mike Miller and Allen Craig each had a trio of unsuccessful appearances. Bryce Brentz, Dan Butler, and Jantzen Witte each had four futile forays to the plate.
Portland Sea Dogs (54-82)
Jalen Beeks coughed up six runs – four earned – on seven hits and two walks in just three innings, including a Rowdy Tellez roundtripper; striking out six. Williams Jerez pitched three perfect innings of relief, whiffing a quartet. Michael McCarthy tossed the final two innings, allowing the final run on two hits and two walks, while striking out a trio.
Mauricio Dubon and Jake Romanski each dropped in a pair of hits in four at-bats; Romanski roping a double, Dubon pilfering his sixth base of the season. Tim Roberson topped a single and was hit by a pitch in his four appearances. Reed Gragnani, Ryan Court, and Aneury Tavarez each had a hit in four forays; Tavarez with a first-inning tater. Tzu-Wei Lin, Nate Freiman, and Cole Sturgeon each had a quartet of failed trips to the dish.
Salem Red Sox (42-25 / 85-51)
Luis Alexander Basabe blasted a pair of hits – including a triple – and earned a walk in his four plate appearances. Mike Meyers mashed a double and a single in four at-bats. Jayce Ray singled once and walked twice in four trips; he was also nabbed in a pick-off/ caught stealing rundown. Nick Longhi laced a single in four at-bats. Joseph Monge contributed a single in five at-bats but struck out thrice. David Sopilka procured a free pass amid three hitless appearances. Deiner Lopez, Jose Sermo, and Rafael Devers went a combined 0-for-12 with six Ks.
Greenville Drive (33-34 / 70-66)
Logan Boyd picked up his fourteenth win with a 5 ⅓ inning effort. He allowed four runs – three earned – on five hits and two walks; striking out five. Marc Brakeman followed with 2 ⅔ perfect innings, whiffing a pair. Victor Diaz yielded a hit and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning appearance.
Jeremy Rivera led the offense with a trio of hits in five at-bats; missing just the roundtripper for a cycle. Mitch Gunsolus and Trenton Kemp each garnered two hits and a walk in five appearances; Gunsolus golfing a two-run bomb. Derek Miller and Nick Lovullo each laced a single in four official at-bats; Miller with a walk and a stolen base. Kyri Washington and Roldani Baldwin each managed a hit in five appearances; Washington with a two-run blast in the fourth. Austin Rei drew a walk amid four futile forays. J.T. Watkins struck out three times in his four unsuccessful at-bats.
Lowell Spinners (46-27)
Jason Groome didn’t yield a hit in his 2 ⅔ inning start, but did allow a run on four walks; the 2016 first round pick also struck out two. Danny Zandona picked up the victory with his 4 ⅓ innings of relief, surrendering two runs on five hits and a walk while whiffing a pair.
Bobby Dalbec hit three singles in each of his three at-bats, and went on to score each time. He also stole his second base of the season. Jerry Downs dropped in a pair of singles in his three trips. Victor Acosta slapped a single in three excursions. Chris Madera and C.J. Chatham each clipped a single in four forays; Madera adding a stolen base. Carlos Tovar lifted a sacrifice fly and had two unsuccessful trips. Yoan Aybar and Nick Sciortino were frustrated in three at-bats. Tyler Hill had four futile forays to the plate.
Mike Shawaryn tossed three scoreless frames, giving up three hits and a walk while striking out four. Algenis Martinez allowed a run on three hits and a hit by pitch during his three innings of relief; whiffing a quintet. Dioscar Romero struck out one of the three batters he faced in a perfect seventh.
Victor Acosta laced a pair of singles in three trips. Chris Madera, Jerry Downs, and Andy Perez each had a hit in three official at-bats; Perez powering a double, Madera earning a free pass, and Downs striking one downtown. Tucker Tubbs was hit by a pitch amid two other hitless at-bats. Carlos Tovar lifted a sacrifice fly in three attempts at bat. Matt McLean drew a walk and had three hitless trips. Yoan Aybar and Jhon Nunez each had a trio of frustrating forays.

The extra game was delayed by at least a day as Hurricane Hermine poured down on Florida. The Sox and Twins will try again to decide the division winner today.
DSL Red Sox 1 (2-1)
Alejandro Rodriguez worked the first six innings, allowing one run on two hits – including a Geoandry Montilla blast – and a pair of walks while striking out seven. Oddanier Mosqueda then tossed two scoreless frames, yielding a hit and a walk while whiffing one. Juan Florentino scattered a trio of hits and committed a balk in his two innings of relief, striking out three.
Ramfis Berroa had a single and two walks in five appearances. His second free pass brought in Eddy Reynoso with the clinching run in the tenth. Marino Campana tripled and walked in his five trips. Kervin Suarez hit a single and was hit by a pitch in five forays. Reynoso was hitless in four at-bats before starting the final rally with a single in the tenth. Ivan Jimenez walked once in three trips before being pinch hit for by Jose Mejias in the ninth, who dropped down the sacrifice bunt. Willis Figueroa earned a free pass in four plate appearances. Carlos Pulido walked and drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly in five trips to the plate. Ricardo Cubillan walked once in five trips and also reached on an error in the tenth to keep the final rally alive. Luis Hernandez dropped down a sacrifice bunt, was hit by a pitch, and struck out thrice.
