Pawtucket Red Sox (73-68)

An unearned first inning run was all there was, Pawsox win 1-0

Justin Haley went eight scoreless frames, giving up two infield singles – the first in the seventh – and walking one (in the second), striking out seven while uncorking a wild pitch. Luis Ysla gifted a single and struck out a pair in the ninth to earn the save.

Chris Marrero, Chris Dominguez, Allen Craig, and Ali Solis each struck a hit in three at-bats, each Chris with a double. Mike Miller, Bryce Brentz, Jantzen Witte, and Jose Vinicio each went 0-for-3, Vinicio scoring the game’s only run on an error during a throwing error on a pickoff attempt at second in the first. Rusney Castillo had four futile forays, but his first-inning strikeout was the catalyst for the only run as he reached base on a wild pitch.

Portland Sea Dogs (55-83)

Five early runs see the Sea Dogs through, Portland wins 7-2

Mitch Atkins tossed 6 ⅔ frames, surrendering a run on eight hits and a walk while striking out nine. Jake Drehoff picked up the final 2 ⅓ innings, allowing a run on three walks while whiffing a pair.

Mauricio Dubon and Aneury Tavarez powered Portland, each going 2-for-4 with a blast. Cole Sturgeon, Ryan Court, Cody Decker, Rainel Rosario, and Reed Gragnani each sliced a hit in four at-bats, Court and Gragnani roping doubles. Jake Romanski and Tim Roberson each whiffed thrice in their four frustrating forays.

Salem Red Sox (44-25 / 87-51)

Basabe bolts from first to home on a single in the 12th, Salem wins 5-4

Matt Kent threw the first six innings, giving up two runs on six hits, a walk, and a hit by pitch, striking out ten. Jake Cosart coughed up two runs in two frames, giving up a hit and three walks, whiffing three, and unleashing a wild pitch. Simon Mercedes tossed three scoreless frames, yielding two hits and notching five strikeouts. Jordan Betts came in from third base to toss the bottom of the 12th, walking two and striking out one to earn the save.

Deiner Lopez lined two singles and a triple in five at-bats, also stealing a base. Joseph Monge mashed a double and two singles in six trips. Luis Alexander Basabe and Jose Sermo each slapped two hits in six appearances, Sermo with a double. Nick Longhi lofted a double and a sacrifice fly in four official at-bats, walking twice. Betts doubled once in five forays. Jayce Ray and Rafael Devers each went hitless in a pinch-hitting appearance, replacing David Sopilka and Jordan Procyshen who each wore 0-for-4 collars. Bryan Hudson also went 0-for-4 but drew a walk.

Greenville Drive (33-36 / 70-68)

Drive can’t shift out of first, lose again 2-1

Daniel Gonzalez twirled the first seven innings, giving up a run on six hits, a balk, and two wild pitches, striking out five. Gerson Bautista yielded an unearned run in his eighth inning appearance, allowing a single.

Tyler Spoon, Kyri Washington, and Derek Miller each procured a single in their trips to the plate; Spoon had three at-bats, Washington and Miller four. Mitch Gunsolus walked once in his four plate appearances. Jeremy Rivera, Nick Lovullo, and Austin Rei each had three hitless at-bats, Lovullo striking out all three trips. Tate Matheny and Josh Ockimey each had four futile forays.

Lowell Spinners (47-28)

Spinners chase away the Monsters in an 8-3 win

Dakota Smith allowed a pair of runs (one earned) on two hits – including a Luke Persico powershot – while whiffing one over six innings. Pat Goetze pitched two scoreless frames, yielding a double and striking out a trio. Jordan Weems struck out the side in the ninth, giving up a run on two hits including a Miguel Mercedes moonshot.

C.J. Chatham clipped two singles and a double while drawing a walk in five appearances, driving in three runs and scoring three as well. Andy Perez placed a single and a double in five at-bats. Chris Madera had a single and a walk after replacing Tyler Hill, who hit a single in three trips. Matt McLean struck a single and earned a walk in five excursions. Bobby Dalbec lifted a single and a sacrifice fly in five forays. Jhon Nunez walked once in two trips after replacing Nick Sciortino who had two hitless at-bats. Tucker Tubbs topped a single in five appearances. Yoan Aybar procured a walk in five forays. Victor Acosta was vanquished in each of his five trips.

GCL Red Sox (0-1)

Cardinals get the better of the Red Sox, punt the Sox out of the playoffs with a 6-2 win

Victor Garcia was not the victory cigar for the Red Sox, surrendering three runs on three hits and two walks in his four frames, striking out two, and unleashing two wild pitches. Ryan Oduber coughed up two runs on three hits and a walk in his 1 ⅔ innings of relief, whiffing a quartet and also throwing one past the catcher. Francisco Soto threw the final 2 ⅓ innings, giving up the final run on two hits – including a Stefan Trosclair tater – and a walk, striking out five.

Steven Reveles and Santiago Espinal each struck two hits in four at-bats and each was caught stealing, Reveles roping a pair of doubles, Espinal spinning a triple. Rafael Oliveras, Juan Barriento, and Jagger Rusconi each ripped a single in four trips, Rusconi stealing a base. Stanley Espinal earned a pair of walks amid two hitless excursions. Lorenzo Cedrola procured a walk and was picked off in his four plate appearances. Raiwinson Lameda and Samuel Miranda failed in their three trips.

DSL Red Sox 1 (1-1)

Red Sox get wrecked in game 2, Rangers tie finals with a 7-0 victory  

Eduard Bazardo tossed the first five frames, allowing a run on three hits, two walks, and a hit by pitch while whiffing six and uncorking a pair of wild pitches. Rayniel Adames went 1 ⅔ innings, yielding four runs (three earned) on three hits – including an Andretty Cordero cuadrangular – and a walk, striking out four and throwing two to the backstop. Junior Figueroa pitched the final 1 ⅓ innings, giving up two runs on a walk and a Wanderley Cabrera way-back shot. Figueroa struck out two and got charged with a wild pitch.

Willis Figueroa had a pair of singles in three at bats and was caught stealing. Ramfis Berroa picked up a single and a walk in three plate appearances. Ivan Houellemont sliced a single in three trips. Marino Campana, Eddy Reynoso, and Carlos Pulido all notched a hit in four excursions, Reynoso roping a double. Ricardo Cubillan drew a walk and had three hitless at-bats. Kervin Suarez and Luis Hernandez each had a quartet of quiet at-bats, striking out five times between them.
