Pawtucket Red Sox (23-25)

PawSox erupt for six in the fifth, hold back the Tides 6-1

Hector Velazquez tossed six shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk while whiffing a trio. Edgar Olmos pitched the final three frames, yielding a run on three hits and a walk while striking out a pair.

Jantzen Witte picked up a single and a double in four trips. Ryan Court roped a pair of doubles in four forays. Bryce Brentz, Blake Swihart, and Matt Dominguez each delivered a hit in four at-bats; Brentz with a three-run bomb in the fifth. Rusney Castillo rocketed a double in his five appearances. Heiker Meneses was hit by a pitch and struck out three times. Allen Craig walked amid three hitless trips. Brian Bogusevic reached on catcher’s interference and also had three additional hitless appearances.


Portland Sea Dogs (23-26)

Fightin’ Phils wallop the Sea Dogs, 14-6

Kevin McAvoy surrendered nine runs in 4 ⅔ innings, striking out four while giving up a walk and ten hits – including homers by Scott Kingery, Angelo Mora, Mitch Walding, and Kyle Martin. Yankory Pimentel came in with two on-base, yielding a second Walding bomb before ending the fifth inning with a strikeout of Malquin Canelo. Luis Ysla allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk in his two frames, whiffing one and tossing one to the backstop. Jake Cosart gave up a double and struck out one in his eighth-inning appearance.

Danny Mars led the offense with four singles in five trips. Jake DePew singled and slammed his first jack of the season in four at-bats. Rafael Devers and Jeremy Barfield each belted two hits in five attempts; Barfield with a bomb. Mike Olt managed a single and a hit by pitch in five appearances. Cole Sturgeon stung a double and lifted a sacrifice fly in four forays. Deiner Lopez’s only hit in four trips was a fifth-inning long-ball, his first of the year. Joseph Monge singled once in five at-bats. Josh Tobias suffered through four frustrating forays.


Salem Red Sox (33-20)

De La Guerra doubles home two, Salem walks off with a 9-8 victory in 11

Matt Kent surrendered five runs – three earned – on seven hits and a walk over 5 ⅓ innings; striking out a quartet and committing a balk. Marc Brakeman yielded two runs on five hits in his 2 ⅔ frames, whiffing a pair. Adam Lau allowed a run on two hits and a walk over his three innings, striking out two.

Chad De La Guerra singled twice and doubled once in six trips; driving in the winning runs in the 11th. Mike Meyers managed two singles and a double in five at-bats. Trenton Kemp compiled a single, a double, and a walk in five forays. Michael Chavis chipped in with a single and a triple in five trips. Jeremy Rivera doubled once in four appearances before being lifted for Jose Sermo, who drew an intentional walk in the 11th. Josh Ockimey obtained a double in five forays. Tate Matheny managed a single in six appearances. Austin Rei walked in the 11th after going hitless in his first four forays. Jordan Betts dropped a sacrifice bunt in the 11th after four hitless at-bats.


Greenville Drive (33-20)

Tubbs’ thumper in the eighth puts the Drive up for good, Greenville wins 3-2

Robby Sexton pitched the first six frames, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk; whiffing seven. Hildemaro Requena tossed the final three innings, giving up three hits and striking out one.

Tucker Tubbs walked and led-off the bottom of the eighth with his second tater of the season, his only hit in two official at-bats. Tyler Hill hit a single and a double in three trips. Ryan Scott scorched a single in three attempts. Lorenzo Cedrola laced a single in four forays. Tyler Spoon and Mitch Gunsolus each drew a walk amid two hitless appearances. Nick Lovullo, Isaias Lucena, and Steven Reveles each were unable to reach in three trips.
